The LG Optimus LTE Tag
is the newest addition to LG’s lineup, unveiled just days before the
start of Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. After the gigantic LG Optimus Vu,
comes another big fellow - the Optimus LTE Tag is a 4.3-inch version of
the Optimus LTE and it comes with NFC connectivity that makes it stand
out.
The whole idea behind it is that it can communicate with tags, “special stickers”
that you can have in different places. For example, you might have a
tag at the office that would trigger a different, work mode for your
phone via NFC. You’d just need to swipe through the tag with your phone. It’s not a new idea - Sony has introduced its own SmartTags recently, but it’s still a neat addition.
Spec-wise, the LG Optimus LTE Tag focuses on a 4.3-inch bright, 650-nit WVGA display,
a 1.2GHz dual-core chip, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing
snapper. The handset will ship with Gingerbread, but will get updated to
ICS. The phone has a 1700mAh battery and 16GB of built-in memory.
The
Optimus LTE Tag is announced for Korea, but we wouldn’t be surprised to
see it elsewhere. We’re even more certain that we’ll see more of it at
MWC, so stay tuned.
